Games Narcissists Play

Don’t let a Narcissist stop you from believing in yourself!  Your opinion DOES count! Your goals and dreams count. You have a right to them. You have a right to succeed–and to FEEL HAPPY about it. Despite their discouragement, or criticisms, or jealousy of you.

Narcissists are too controlling, domineering, they lack empathy, its all about them, and you get pushed into the background, ignored, put down and invalidated. Its an Awful way to live.  Get a job. Have your own car, your own phone. SEE your friends–without the Narcissist always being with you. Have your own laptop or tablet.  BELIEVE in yourself.

Here is a very informative video from Dr. Les Carter.  He clearly explains bad things a Narcissist will do to you, or tactics they will use against you. But there is Hope. Now, you know. You are aware. You have the knowledge. Use it, even silently, to survive and gain strength, and freedom from the Narcissist.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwgWCH1iyUk      –theOwl30    PS– i post music/songs, and opinions on Psychology, Spirituality, Books, Old TV shows and more at:  http://www.thewordpressowl.wordpress.com

1st Dates gone wrong

Ahhh, looking back on it all . . . (shakes head).  Some first-dates that went wrong:

#1.  Her: You could come over after we leave here…

Me:  You *are* single, aren’t you?

Her: Well….kind of. He’s not living with me.

Me: But legally, you’re still married, right?

Her: well, yeah….

Me: But I already said, right in the very beginning before we met, that I was looking for someone legally single or who’s divorce was Finalized.

(It all went downhill from there. I didn’t come over. No 2nd date).

#2. This date, we met for a drink downtown.  Actually, I felt the conversation was going quite well, and she was attractive, and then, completely out of nowhere and not related to anything we had been talking about, she asks me:  “SO! Do you Recycle?”  (I’m serious, she really asked that—WTF??)

Me: Umm, No, I don’t. I just dump it all in one big garbage can.

and then her bottom lip actually started to quiver a bit,  as she looked me right in the eyes with this worried look –and she said:  But  (quiver)…what…what about the LAND-fill?!?

(Ohhhh, brother!  Yeah, it went rapidly downhill from there. I was this loser-inconsiderate-Bum (or whatever she felt about me) because I didn’t care about the Planet, etc.   Sigh.

#3.  Her hair was shampooed. Slender figure, Skirt-n-blouse outfit looked nice. She probably just got off work. We sat down at our table. It wasn’t 3 minutes into it and she asks: SO! Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

Me: (oh, God! Am i going out with the manager of Personnel?).  Probably still living in this city and  enjoying Life right here.   (I could tell that that wasn’t Aggressive or Goal-oriented enough, even though I was working full-time and paying my bills on time and had my own car and place away from my parents).  Maybe i should have said I would become the National CEO of Bank of America and then buy the 3 largest Castles in all of Italy. . .

4. This woman also invited me to her place. And she was single. I get there and she has me sit in her kitchen and offers me Herb Tea.  She sits in another chair, also in the kitchen, but her chair is right in front of –an artist’s EASEL …and I get to sit and watch her do “toll-painting”.  But hey, its only the first date, right?  But there’s hardly any conversation, either. She’s sooo focused on each of her little painting-details, right in front of me. No, she isn’t painting me, either. I try to make conversation but she hardly says a word and gives very short, almost “robot” answers.  One time, it was a sunny day and we were sitting in grass and she picked up a flower and sorta teasingly said: He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves not. He loves me. Then she smiled.  But nothing happened. Every time I came over, once again, she kept doing more painting, every time! We never even kissed. Finally, I once asked: Do you want to go out with me or do you wanna keep doing painting? and she says she has to get it done. And yet, she kept having me over. I gave up. Too boring.  and I had waited. Forget sex, we weren’t doing ANYTHING together! No movies, No road trips, no sports, no games. We didn’t go to the Mall. Toooo boring. I moved on.

#5. We met for a Pizza. She arrives. She’s too fat. By quite alot.  I’m not perfect, but seriously, I DO know that I can do better. But I’ll be nice and make the most of it. The Pizza comes, its good, and at least the conversation wasn’t awkward.  Until—-

She asks:  (looking straight at me!) SO! Have you ever “done it” in a Bath-tub full of Lime Jello?  (Yes, she really asked that).

Me: (pause)….welll, no. Can’t say that I’ve tried that one…..

Later, I thanked her but never called back.  That was years ago.

And to think, for all of these dates, we DID meet in a public place, first.  Those were all years ago. But i still remember.  (smiles to self) Life goes on . . . .

MONK. TV show

Some years back, there was a TV crime show simply called: “MONK”. That was for Adrian Monk. I loved this show because it was done differently. Most crime shows are a who-did-it. With many episodes of Monk (i think there were 8 seasons), in the first 10 minutes Monk would say: “That’s the guy!” –but, at the time Monk says that, it seems soooo unlikely, maybe even impossible, or someone has a great Alibi. You are often told right up front who did it, and the show is still very interesting because you can’t possibly see HOW it could be “that guy” and spend just about all of the show wracking your brain, trying to figure out how MONK figured it out. Then, in the last 2 minutes, you get the Big Reveal. This is the end of one of my favorite episodes. It’s season 2, episode 1 “Mr. Monk Goes Back to School”. Season 2 is available on DVD from Amazon.

DEmotivation Poster

Gawwd, i luv it!   It’s about time someone created something to counter today’s flood of unrealistic, politically-correct  & “sucking up” fluff.   (grin)  There are others, besides these. From Despair.com

A Criticism of Youtubers

Think about this.

Do you have any videos on Youtube at all? If you do, one thing I am noticing, as a viewer, over a wide variety of topics on Youtube, and it’s thoroughly aggravating & disgusting is, people who don’t:

. . . . . .GET TO THE  F*n!&#m%y*  POINT!!

Seriously, if your video is 8 minutes long (or more) and it’s 2 minutes and 30 seconds into it before you are–finally—-just starting—-to say what your first point, tip, or bit-of-advice is, then something is seriously wrong. People tuned in, for an answer, and now you’re boring the hell out of them, abusing their patience, and already sounding unfocused.

Are content-creators really so pathetically clueless?

REGARDLESS of the topic—-DO NOT take more than –20 seconds– in the very beginning, to “get-right-to-it” with your specific advice and point #1 to solve the problem or start giving your tips and advice. It’s that simple. Really, it is.

Example: “Hi there! Have you ever been frustrated by….or, what can you do when?….Today, I’ve got 5 bits of advice that you can put into practice and be more effective, right now. Lets get started. The first thing is”……..NOTE: Re-read that example out loud. How long did it take to say that? This is what viewers want. It’s why they clicked on you.  And yet, an astonishing number of  videos don’t practice this!  But it’s easily do-able. Your viewers will thank you for it. With more “likes” and Thumb’s Up’s.

So STOP RAMBLING!  If it means that your video is “only” 4 minutes long,  or more of a “dry” presentation of info—don’t worry about it.  Simpler is better.   People don’t want, or need, 14 miles of irrelevant back-story, or un-focused blabbering.  Be Aware!   Thank You. Your viewers will, too.

TED Talks suck

Ted Talks. They suck.

Have I listened to every one of them? No. But some of them. And I’m not impressed. In fact, I’m mostly turned off. They suck. Why? Because—-

1. They lack Passion. They are far too “acceptable” and politically correct and say things that are pathetically easy to agree with anyway, but that I very likely could care less about.

2. Where are the conservative Ted Talks? Oh, you might hear one about the dire warnings of climate change, etc.  But where is the TED TALK from someone who thinks climate change is bogus? or who is a member of the NRA? or someone against Globalism? They’re just too liberal all-around. And—-

3. It feels like they don’t have the guts to do TED TALKS on   controversial things, unless it’s to present a very liberal view. They avoid controversy too much. It’s “speeches-lite”, about as boring as anything you might hear in a Toastmasters speech. (Insert big Yawn here).

Inventing a NEW Social Media

Many people are dumping Facebook. And Twitter.

Whatever happened to “My Space” ?  Should there be a My Space 2.0 ?

Many people like WordPress. Some like Instagram, Tumblr or Wix.com

So I have a question for you:  If you imagine the “coolest” kind of Blogging platform or social media “thingy”, what would it be like? What would make it The Best? Name 3 must-have features you would want in it.

Some things on my wish-list would be

1. No Text limit  (or, a 12-page limit per post should be enough. Having it doesn’t mean that you always have to use it.). 2. Find other users by Topic/category, and by City. 3. I would actually LIMIT no more than 2 pictures included/attached with any post.

Here’s more: 4. MUCH better control/filtering of any “Timeline” and comments. Such as the ability to Block up to say, 50 users. And also something like: Only show/allow comments and only show me other posts from the country I created my account in. For example, I have no interest in reading posts or getting comments from Bolivia or Uzbekistan or from languages that I don’t speak. Give us the option.

It would also be nice to have some choices to alter colors and fonts. What do you think?

What will you do with your time after you retire?

What makes you happy? How do you like to spend your free time? And what do you think that will be when you are 70?

Some people live very simple lives. Some others thrive on nearly constant activity and being productive. Both of these can be overdone. Simplicity might degenerate into a rut of monotony. Being productive can become an inability to relax.

Here’s a wild thought: Lets assume there really is some sort of Afterlife or Heaven.
In Heaven, people don’t get sick. At least I’ve never heard anyone say that we do. And I’ve never heard anyone be worried about getting a house in the Afterlife. Think of what this means. It means that even if you had a Prestige career-position here on earth as a Doctor, it won’t matter there, as people no longer get sick. If you were a brilliant construction worker or engineer and built a posh 30-story building or 2 story 4bedroom house, or designed a bridge, it won’t matter, cuz people don’t need a house or to have one designed or built. So what matters once you are there?

It might be said that here, is different than there, and so things that may not matter there, will matter here anyway. Ok. So lets keep it here and ask ourselves: Alright, your career here on earth is over and now—-you are Retired. Life is simpler.  Or, is it?  What will matter then? How will you spend your time? What will be fun? What will be important? Why?

When you were a senior in high school, chances are hardly anyone cared that you were very good at drawing with crayons in the 7th grade. By the time you were in your 3rd year of college, no one cares that you did well enough in sports to get a Letterman’s jacket in 11th grade. By the time you are 40, most people will be in a different job and won’t care about the one they had at 23. By the time you are 68, who will care that you were once in Management or the Administration? So then—

Will you, be able to adjust to a Simpler Life? How will you enjoy your time? What will be important? What will make you happy? And if you are 45 or 50 now, why aren’t you already enjoying those things? What is preventing you? The clock is ticking and we are all getting older. It can be insightful, and fun, to think about.

Samantha Valens Questions Witchcraft and “Finding Your Truth”

Samantha Valens has made several Youtube videos on Witchcraft. But last time I checked, she now has less faith in it and is now more of an “Atheist Witch”. She also has a video about “Why I Left Wicca” on Youtube. This one is about “Finding Your Truth”. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojbYkoSyZWs
